Cafe Spotlight: A Mother’s Milk, Adelaide

Cafe Spotlight: A Mother’s Milk, Adelaide

A Mother’s Milk takes you to Brooklyn with its Ghetto Chic inspired fit-out of exposed bricks, graffiti artwork and newly installed black wall with a coffee map made of string (we love this!).

Tania Basheer, owner of A Mother’s Milk has been in the hospitality industry most of her life, her father owned the very first Italian restaurant in Adelaide back in 1968, Marsalina. Ever since then Tania has worked with and owned many commercial cafes. Looking for a new challenge she decided to takeover A Mother’s Milk almost a year ago, this being her very first specialty café.

With Tania’s experience in commercial cafes and restaurants, she brings a focus on providing exceptional service to her customers making them feel like they’re part of a big family. The customer base is a “mixed bag” as Tania likes to put it, including doctors, lawyers, families and locals. The café is situated in a friendly neighbourhood where good coffee and quality food are appreciated.

Tania balances her customer tastes with contemporary, health-focused meals such as chia pudding and all time crowd pleasers like the traditional baked eggs, which are an absolute must-try in our opinion. The kitchen is small but Tania makes sure she keeps the menu options fresh and exciting. All of Tania’s meats are smoked in-house weekly – it’s a slow process but provides for a unique and delicious treat to her customers.

Loving to educate customers on not only food but coffee, you will find our Forza blend front and centre on the coffee menu. When questioned as to why Tania chose this blend for her café, she responded, “It tastes good, it’s consistent and I’m a short black drinker. My customers want more dimensional flavours in their coffee and they really want to taste the strength in the coffee. My customers tell me that the coffee is the best it’s ever been.”

If you are looking for a delicious cold drip, a quality latte or some tasty food made with love, then make your way over to A Mother’s Milk and become part of the family.
