Sure, health and wellness is all the rage these days, and finding a café with a health focused menu isn’t that hard. But for those who live and breathe wellness in all aspects of their life, the team at Sum of Us have created a wellness utopia in the outskirts of Prahran.
Sum of Us is the brainchild of Brigid, Chris, Marney (all physiotherapists) and Melissa (a myotherapist). Collectively they’ve worked in the industry for 10 years but dreamt of something more. They dreamt of a space where they could foster a community of like-minded individuals on the quest for wellness and ultimately happiness.
They’ve certainly achieve that and more. At Sum of Us, they offer a range of wellness services including physiotherapy, podiatry, myotherapy, pilates, yoga, meditation, dietetics and a health-inspired cafe.
Marney was kind enough to take me through the inspiration for Sum of Us. “We believe that health and wellness isn’t one-dimensional, it’s multifaceted and there’s no one answer for everyone. At different stages in a person’s life and their wellness journey, they will need different things, so the premise behind Sum of Us is to provide a holistic wellness offering catering to all needs.”
“The café ties it all together. Our number one value is community, and the café is the main driver for fostering the community beyond the yoga studio or treatment room. It’s created a space for us where people are comfortable to stay after classes or treatment and further connect with like-minded people”
In just a few short weeks, Sum of Us has definitely made a name for themselves, not just for their treatments and classes but for their tasty coffee too. They use Veneziano Coffee Roasters’ Estate Blend and fast becoming known for the place to go for a good cup of coffee in Prahran.
We’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the Sum of Us team, and they have some grand plans, but the vision to create a community of health-conscious, mindful and happy people will always be the goal.
