Just like the rest of you, our hearts are breaking for the families, communities and wildlife affected by the bushfires in South East Australia.
Since November last year, this devastation has claimed over 26 lives, destroyed thousands of homes, burnt through millions of hectares and impacted what is thought to be over 1 billion animals, with several species facing extinction.
And sadly, it’s far from over. To our incredible firefighters and volunteers, we owe you everything and want to do whatever we can to assist national relief efforts.
Since Saturday 4th January and until Sunday January 12th, we’re donating $1 of all coffee sales in our all Veneziano Coffee cafes, as well as 20% of all retail sales online and in our cafes to the CFA, RSF and WIRES organisations.
We’re calling on our lovely customers and the coffee community to donate and help in any way they can too – this may be simply supporting the many cafes and businesses doing their bit to help those affected by the fires.
If you would prefer to make a direct donation, we’ve made a list of organisations you can support that help those affected:
The Red Cross supports a variety of efforts such as supporting people at evacuation centres and providing emergency assistance like cash grants to people who have lost their homes.
Salvation Army team members are providing meals to first-line responders and evacuees, as well as any other support needed.
Vinnies’ bushfire appeal helps provide food, clothing and money that bushfire victims may need to pay their bills.
You can either donate straight to the NSW RFS or to your local Rural Fire Brigade to support volunteer firefighters.
Like the NSW RFS, you can donate either to a specific brigade or provide a general donation.
The Victorian Government teamed up with The Salvation Army and Bendigo Bank for the appeal, with all funds going to communities in need.
The organisation has a GoFundMe page that seeks funding for Koalas affected by the bushfires.
NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES) rescues and cares for animals and is seeking donations for volunteer carers and rescuers that are inundated with them amid the bushfires.
WWF-Australia care for our injured wildlife, and when the fires clear, help restore the forest homes our koalas and other animals have lost.
