The group was formed in 2013 and is comprised of 24 female coffee producers from Matão have been changing their lives through quality improvement. In 2015 the group took out first place in the Paraná quality contest, with a lot produced by Eloir Nogueira de Souza.
After the Contest, the group was inspired even further and has been implementing best processing practices. The following year with another award by the producer Laura de Freitas some members of the group decided to make the selective harvest together of natural coffee, an idea that worked well and has had a lot of visibility and became a reference for work, unity and dedication in every region. With selective picking being a rarity in Brazil, the group has seen their quality increase exponentially and is being rewarded for their hard work The group is now 24 members strong.
For the future, the group wants to continue to make excellent coffee, increase quality and production, as well qualify and prepare these women to identify their coffees.
This is an incredibly exciting project to be a part of and we look forward to seeing what these women can produce in the future.
This lot is comprised of cherries from three producers in the community, all three who we have had lots from previously. They are Maria Souza, Maristela Souza and Dulcineia Teixeira.
You may have noticed that we have stopped labelling some coffees as “Filter Roast Profile”. We felt that our previous labelling of microlots did not do justice to our coffees and what we think they are capable of. We want you to feel free to use the coffee any way you like. Read more here.
