Halu Beriti is a relatively new washing station in Gedeb, only being established in 2014 and provides purchasing and processing for around 750 local smallholder producers. Washed lots like this one are purchased from growers in cherry form before undergoing fermentation for 48-72 hours. After fermentation the coffee is rinsed to remove the mucilage, before being soaked for a further 8-16 hours. After being washed one more time the coffee is dried under sunlight on raised beds for 9-12 days.
You may have noticed that we have stopped labelling some coffees as “Filter Roast Profile”. We felt that our previous labelling of microlots did not do justice to our coffees and what we think they are capable of. We want you to feel free to use the coffee any way you like. Read more here.
