Women in Coffee Events kicked off the 2021 Speakers Series
Veneziano Coffee Roasters officially kicked off its 2021 Specialty Coffee Industry Events program with a number of Women in Coffee panels held in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in celebration of International Women’s Day on 9 March.
The Richmond event attracted an audience of 60+ industry professionals and coffee enthusiasts who heard the inspiring stories, challenges and what a typical day entailed for the panelists who included:
- Christine Brown – Coffee Technician for St Ali
- Mel Caia – William Angliss Institute (Coffee Academy) and World Barista Judge
- Anne Cooper – Equilibrium Master Roasters
- Kate Maher – Café Manager for Veneziano Richmond
- Cassie Penno – Veneziano Distributor for Bendigo region
- Fleur Studd – Co-founder of Market Lane and Melbourne Coffee Merchants
- Lucy Ward – Green bean buyer for St Ali
Some of the common themes highlighted were the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues and customers and the power of building and nurturing relationships with producers.
Following the panel, guests participated in an interactive cupping of the second edition of the Pinnacle Series coffee line-up with 4 rare and exotic coffees sampled. The cupping was introduced by Pete Licata, R&D Consultant for Veneziano and former World Barista Champion. Veneziano as part of its 2021 Speaker series will hold events on a regular basis in each state with details published on socials and bookings via Eventbrite.
