How to dial in Crave

How to dial in Crave

 What you will need

  • A bag or two of the strong and punchy Crave blend
  • Fresh cold milk or your choice of alternate milk
  • Freshly prepared espresso shots
  • Espresso machine

Steps

  • If you like your coffee strong and punchy then Crave is for you. Best for a full flavoured milky or a more traditional espresso. Think dark chocolate, nuts and caramel.
  • We recommend setting your machine's brew temp to around 94 degrees.
  • In our cafes we use 22 grams of coffee to extract a 36 gram double espresso in about 27 seconds.
  • At home you may not be able to fit 22 grams of coffee in your basket so we use a 1:1.6 ratio to work out the recipe.
  • For example if your basket only fits 16 grams of coffee then the yield would be 25 grams in the same amount of brew time.
  • If you are making a black coffee we recommend reducing the dose by 1 gram and increasing the yield by a couple of grams. This will give you a more balanced, less intense cup of coffee.

More Tips

  • If your coffee is tasting a little sour or lacking sweetness you can adjust your grinder a little bit finer. This will slow down the flow of water and increase the brew time.
  • If your coffee is tasting a touch bitter then adjust the grinder a bit coarser. This speeds up the flow of water and shortens the brew time.
