Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm, owned and operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family since 2012, spans 500 hectares in Ethiopia’s Guji zone, with 300 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation. Situated 510 kilometers south of Addis Ababa, the farm straddles the villages of Taro and Sewana in the Oromia region. Ismael manages a workforce of 25 permanent employees and 300 seasonal workers, offering fair wages, free transportation, and financial support for local community projects, including building schools and administrative infrastructure. To ensure loyalty in a competitive labor market near a mining village, Ismael incentivizes workers with higher wages.

The farm integrates sustainable practices to create an optimal growing environment. Indigenous shade trees like acacia protect the coffee plants and are also used to produce natural compost for fertilization. Kayon Mountain has an on-site nursery to cultivate coffee seedlings, reflecting Ismael’s commitment to quality and sustainability. Both Natural and Washed lots are processed on the farm with great care, highlighting Ismael's attention to detail in both farm operations and coffee production. The combination of ethical practices, meticulous management, and a focus on sustainability ensures that Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm produces exceptional coffee while positively impacting its community.
