Kindeng Dry Mill is located in the Jikawa province of Papua New Guinea. Around 1,500 smallholders from the Kindeng and Arufa municipalities provide their cherry for processing at the mill. The average farm size for producers is 1-2 hectares with soil that is sandy and clay. After the cherries have been processed they are dried on raised beds and canvasses. They are moved multiple times a day over a 1 month drying process which enables a uniform average moisture content across the lot.
The Western Highlands region of PNG is densely forested with dramatic mountains river valleys experiencing cool temperatures. Generational producers have grown coffee under shade along with other subsistence crops.
