Congratulations to Jen Marks, our popular and much-loved barista and roaster at Veneziano Coffee Roasters, on her World Latte Art Championship performance in Nice, France in June 2013. Jen was well prepared and put in her best, falling only 10 places short of a finals spot. Nevertheless, it was a stellar effort and one of which we are all extremely proud.
World Latte Art Championship highlights artistic expression in a competition platform that challenges baristas from all over the world. Baristas are judged based on visual attributes, creativity, identical patterns in the pairs, contrast in patterns, and overall performance.
Other young Australian female coffee talent competing at Nice was Elisha Mauger from Gloria Jeans coffee, finishing a very respectable ninth place in the World Cup Tasting Championships. Well done to the ladies!
Jen would like to thank her sponsors for their generous support:
– Zarraffa’s Coffee for supplying a Dalla Corte (official World Latte Art machine). Jen will run training sessions to Zarraffa’s Coffee staff upon her return.
– David and Greg from Appliance Maintenance Co (NSW) for the loan of Mahlkonig grinder
– D’Ancap cups provided by Antony de Fina of Casa Espresso
– Peter from Cafetto for providing her with the cleaning cloths
To watch Jen’s performance, its starts at around the 01:30:00 mark on the livestream video below. She performs at the same time as Ryan Tan, Singapore Latte Art Champion and also Singapore Barista Champion 2013.
