Pure Skill and Pour Over Perfection: CAFEC Brew Masters Melbourne Recap

Pure Skill and Pour Over Perfection: CAFEC Brew Masters Melbourne Recap

Last Thursday, August 7th we hosted the sold out CAFEC Brew Masters competition - the ultimate battleground for pour over excellence. With identical Cafec equipment, the same Veneziano single origin, and blind judging, victory came down to pure technique and skill. The elimination-style tournament format was suitably intense. Three competitors brewing simultaneously, 10 minutes to execute, and expert judges led by former World Barista Champion, Pete Licata simply pointing to the cup they'd prefer to drink.

Congratulations to our winners:

  • CAFEC Brew Master Champion: Jordan Morrison from Path Coffee
  • Runner-up: Sunghwan Min from Axil Coffee Roasters
  • Third Place: Pam Chidchanok from Veneziano Coffee Roasters

The overall winner and Master Champion Jordan Morrison took home a Rancilio Silvia Pro courtesy of Rancilio Group

The evening was made even more special with Shigeji Nakatsuka, Founder and CEO of Cafec Japan, in attendance. Watching passionate competitors push the boundaries of pour over brewing reminded us why we love our industry. Celebrating the artistry, precision and pure skill that goes into every cup.
