About Rwanda Karambi

Karambi Washing Station sits in Rwanda's Western Province, in the highlands that rise above Lake Kivu. The station works with smallholder farmers in the surrounding area, most of whom tend less than a quarter of a hectare of Red Bourbon trees - the variety that defines Rwandan specialty coffee and accounts for the vast majority of the country's cultivated plants.

Cherry is delivered to Karambi at the peak of the March to June harvest, where it undergoes careful washed processing. Rwanda's Central Washing Station model -established through government investment in the early 2000s has transformed the quality of coffee coming out of this country, and Karambi is a strong example of what meticulous post-harvest handling produces.

In the cup, expect white peach, earl grey, and green grape notes. Delicate and tea-like.
