Gahahe washing station is located in Kayanza province at an altitude of 1,805 metres above sea level. Over 1,700 smallholders deliver their cherry each season to Gahahe for processing which is well equipped with fermentation tanks, sorting and drying tables.
The average smallholder in Burundi has approximately 250 trees with a typical annual harvest of 200 to 300 kilos. During harvest season all coffee is selectively hand picked by the smallholder and their family.
