First Pour Espresso Bar and Showroom comes to Adelaide

Veneziano Coffee Roasters has just opened a First Pour espresso bar and specialty coffee showroom on the site of a completely refurbished former book store premises in Melbourne Street, North Adelaide.

The speciality coffee roaster has a number of long-standing and dedicated cafe customers in South Australia, including Argo on the Parade, Blefari Cafe, Restaurant Tranquilo, Sazon Espresso, Lime 2 Cafe, Jenny’s Gourmet Bakery, Lunchroom Espresso Bar and Chocolate @ No. 5 amongst them and saw it fit to bring its showroom concept to coffee-devoted Adelaide.

The Adelaide First Pour is modelled on its sister sites in Melbourne and Brisbane and is intended to be a one-off by Veneziano in Adelaide, that aims to serve as: an espresso bar for customers to enjoy and sample specialty coffee blends and single origins; training premises for Veneziano clients including visits from Australian and world champion baristas and roasters; cupping events, for coffee industry folk and the general public, giving them the opportunity to sample boutique or brand new roasts and even help create new blends.

Although the official launch opening is Friday March 30, the First Pour is already up and running complete with a featured espresso and brew bar showcasing siphons, Chemex and other alternate coffee brewing techniques. Customers have a 360 degrees view of the bar allowing them complete interaction with the baristas.

The restoration has created a warm and vibrant feel, retaining some of the historic features inspired by the building such as the restored fireplace whilst the bookshelf and bar counter top having been crafted from recycled Jarrah. The bar is completed in the heritage-style pressed metal facade. A new addition is the communal table, a trend started in Melbourne specialty cafes and now popping up in other states.

Unlike its Melbourne counterpart the Adelaide First Pour is serving food with breakfast and lunch available in an array of freshly baked and deliciously filled turkish breads, sour dough and gluten free options as well as an assortment of fresh salads.

Gourmet French cakes and Danish pastries also form a staple part of the daily offer, supplied by a valued Veneziano client Au Matin Calme, with the centre-piece being a chocolate fridge laden with organic, hand-made chocolates and petit fours made exclusively by Veneziano client and chocolatier, Chocolate @ No. 5, in Hahndorf.
