Veneziano Richmond will be holding their inaugural Barista Battle Competition in Richmond on Thursday 23rd June. Over three intense rounds 24 baristas will test their latte art, sensory and brewing skills.
ROUND 1 - POUR PARTY
24 competitors will go head to head. Spin the wheel, and your fate will be decided, will you pour a heart? tulip? swan? Judges will be looking at creativity, contrast and symmetry.
ROUND 2 - SLURP IT
The 12 remaining competitors will battle it out using their sensory skills. Just like a cup tasters competition, there will be three cups. Two cups are identical and one is different. There will be five triangulations and you will only have five minutes. The top six most accurate and fastest baristas will continue earn their spot in the final round.
ROUND 3 - DO YOU W60?
It's simple, using the Hario W60 designed by our very own R&D master Pete Licata and a delicious Microlot from our friends at Cafe Imports, you will present to us a delicious brew. You will have 15 minutes to dial in the coffee and 5 minutes brewing time.
Grand prize is $1,500 plus a Pinnacle reserve coffee pack. Runner up prize is $500 plus a Pinnacle reserve coffee pack. Third prize is a skateboard.
