Taking five with Nick

The people behind the coffee matter just as much as what's in the cup. This month, we're sitting down with Nick, our Group Sustainability Manager, to talk daily rituals, global coffee moments and what he's brewing at home.

Hey Nick, tell us your role in the Veneziano crew.

"I'm the Group Sustainability Manager, and it's my job to make sure we continue doing good stuff in our communities and for the environment. I look after things like our B Corp certification, waste management practices, packaging, climate reporting, and community work."

From the cup to the community Nick's work touches just about everything we do.

Morning go-to brew?

"I'll normally have a flat white to start, followed shortly by a batch brew."

What's your Veneziano pick this month?

"Soar is tasting delish on my little home Breville machine."

Any fun facts we should know about you?

"I've been working in coffee for a while, and it's taken me all over the world. Last year, I judged at the World Barista Championships in Milan. This was the fifth time I've judged at a world-level competition."

"Before coffee, I was big into ballroom dancing. I used to teach and compete, including at a national level. These days, I've traded my tails for an oar and spend time out on Port Phillip Bay, or tending to my lawn."

From the dance floor to the judging table to Port Phillip Bay on a weekend Nick's range of skills is genuinely impressive. Five world-level competitions and counting.

Describe Veneziano in one word.

"Electric."
